Curlers Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant named to Canada’s 2026 Olympic squad

After finishing sixth at last week’s world mixed doubles curling championship in Fredericton, the husband-and-wife team was named by the Canadian Olympic Committee and Curling Canada to the Milano Cortina 2026 team.

Curlers Jocelyn Peterman and Brett Gallant are the first two athletes named to Canada’s Olympic team for Milano Cortina 2026 on Monday (5 May).

 

It was announced by Curling Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee.

 

After winning the national mixed doubles trials in January, the husband-and-wife curling team secured Canada’s ticket to the Olympic tournament by finishing sixth at last week’s world mixed doubles curling championship in Fredericton.

 

Both were already in action at the Beijing 2022 Olympics. Gallant took bronze with the men’s team led by Brad Gushue while Peterman was on Jennifer Jones’ squad that missed the medal round in the women’s event.

 

“To be an Olympian once is amazing, but to have the opportunity to do it twice, and also to do it with my husband as a teammate, will be a true privilege, and we just can’t wait to be in Italy next year,” said Peterman in a press release.

 

“Since Jocelyn and I started playing mixed doubles, it’s been our dream to represent Canada at the Winter Olympics as teammates, and we’re going to embrace this opportunity. We appreciate that Curling Canada adjusted its qualifying process for mixed doubles in order to provide more time to get ourselves ready for the Games, and we’ll be using that time to the best of our ability to be in peak form in Italy,” said Gallant who is based in .The Charlottetown based curlers

 

Canada is the most successful nation in Olympic curling history with 12 medals (six gold, three silver, three bronze).

 

The mixed doubles event will kick off curling competition at Cortina d’Ampezzo on 4 February, 2026, two days before the Opening Ceremony.

 

*As National Olympic Committees have the exclusive authority for the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games, athletes’ participation at the Milano Cortina Games depends on their NOC selecting them to represent their delegation at Milano Cortina 2026.
