Swedish Curling Olympians Declared

Curling athletes were among the first Swedish 2026 Olympians to be announced at a sunny training camp in Chania, Greece.

Like Canada’s recent announcement, the Swedish Olympic Committee’s news conference featured curlers and it was no surprise as the defending Olympic champion men’s team, skipped by Niklas Edin, and the defending bronze medallist Team Anna Hasselborg will both be going to Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The announcement also included the mixed doubles squad of Isabella and Rasmus Wranå. The sibling combo captured world mixed doubles gold a year ago, though they didn’t compete at last month’s shootout in Fredericton, N.B.—Hasselborg and Edin third Oskar Eriksson did.

Eriksson teamed with Team Wrana third Almida de Val to win Olympic mixed doubles bronze three years ago in Beijing. The feat made Eriksson the first curling athlete to win two medals at the same Olympic Winter Games.

Unlike the other curling athletes, Isabella Wranå will be a first-time Olympian at Cortina.

The announcement of Sweden’s first 2026 Olympians also included athletes in Ice Hockey, Biathlon and four Ski disciplines.
